Vattenfall Heat UK is seeking an experienced Account Director to join our sales team who will own the whole sales lifecycle from identifying new opportunities to getting contracts signed.
Vattenfall Heat UK is a new business and in the first three years of operation in the UK, we have already bid and won the largest public sector and the largest private sector tenders to come to market in the last five years and we have a healthy pipeline and a reputation as the ‘Nordic Disruptor’.
We are new, but, we are not going alone. We are backed by our parent company, Vattenfall, the largest operator of district heating in Western Europe.
As an Account Director at Vattenfall Heat UK, you will apply a strategic approach to selling, recognising that sales is a required development of a clear-value proposition, developing long-term relationships with senior stakeholders and collaborating with the client to find the right answer for their problem, submitting a compelling bid and assisting our leadership team to reach contract signature.
Identifying and qualifying opportunities in the market
Developing a deep understanding of your clients and their business
Developing strategies to win deals
Devising and project managing the action plan that will drive the sale from lead to close
Owning the client relationship and acting as the ‘client’s voice’ in the room
Leading in the development of the value proposition drawing on the capabilities of Vattenfall Heat UK and the skillset of our team
Using your knowledge of the client to challenge, price, solution and pitch throughout (though, you may not have a technical background yourself)
Growing our existing networks by identifying local opportunities as well as up-selling other Vattenfall service offerings
Establishing and nurturing key relationships with commercial and technical advisors and consultants to ensure clients are aware of Vattenfall’s offering on the market
Act as internal interface to other business development functions in the UK and ensure connected approaches to strategic and target markets, such as large property developers and sources of heat
We would love to hear from candidates that meet some (but not necessarily all) of the below:
Minimum 5-years’ experience in a similar role as a sales lead in major infrastructure deals where the client is typically a Local Authority or a private developer
Experience gained acting as a senior sales lead in a consultancy setting
Demonstrable track-record of complex major infrastructure deals;
Understanding of commercial principles and structures (though, this may not be your background);
Knowledge of consultative-selling, solution-based sales, account-based sales and established methodologies such as Miller-Heiman;
Experience producing complex bids and proposals; and
Experience of district heating, energy master-planning or a similar sector is an advantage.
Location: The location of this position is Edinburgh, but home-working is supported
