Vattenfall is now looking for the right person to fill the position as Commercial Manager for Scotland and the North to join our growing team and develop projects from early bidding stages, all the way through to contract close.
Reporting to the Director of the North, the Commercial Manager will be responsible for shaping and delivering our projects, from early business development stages – influencing customers, through planning and delivering high quality bids and proposal, winning projects, and all the way through commercial negotiations and successful closure. The role will be responsible for successfully winning and closing 2-5 projects per year over the next 5y, including upselling activity.
You will be a key member of the team tasked with developing the business in Scotland and the North. You will work alongside Business Development Managers, Engineering Managers and Senior Project Managers to ensure a smooth transition from bidding, negotiation, to “on the ground works”. As a Commercial Manager you will steer and support the ongoing contract management of our contracts, from concession agreements to connection agreements, to ensure that we deliver our obligations and risks are managed accordingly.
We are looking for an engaging, communicative, driven and diligent Commercial Manager who is able to shape and deliver projects through their lifecycle: from bidding to closing contracts. Your ability to have a long-term view (our projects and contracts are 40y+) and propose creative and flexible solutions to commercial needs will be key for this.
As a commercially minded professional, you have the ability to translate technical inputs into commercial impact, and to identify and manage risks in changing and challenging environments. You are also able to understand commercial fundamentals, from financial models and how key drivers shape solutions, to tariff structures, and contracts. Your ability to understand the details and keep the big picture in mind will help you to drive projects and strike the right balance between “doing” and “steering”.
Naturally collaborative and a strong team player you will be able to build strong relationships with peers, build project teams, and work with Clients, advisors and other key stakeholders to ensure we deliver a sustainable and profitable portfolio of heat and decentral energy projects. This work will be fundamental to our ability to develop and grow the Vattenfall Heat UK footprint in the UK.
