Vattenfall is currently searching for the right person to fill the position of Contract Manager within the District Heating Business to oversee development and execution of projects in London.

Formed two years ago, the Vattenfall Heat team in the UK has secured its first two major contracts and has a healthy pipeline and a reputation for disrupting and challenging the market- particularly in regards to driving environmental performance of heat solutions.
2020 will see us further developing projects with a regional focus and with that in mind we are now seeking to hire a Contract Manager to join our growing team and be involved with projects throughout their lifecycle, from early contract negotiation, to closing deals and managing contracts during construction and operation.
Reporting to the Regional Director, the Contract Manager will be responsible for understanding, administering, interfacing and organising all contracts within the region, both upstream and downstream.
You will work alongside Head of Delivery, Legal, Engineering Managers and Project Managers to ensure projects are successful in their execution and handover stages. You will be play a key role in formulating contracting strategy.
As a Contract Manager you undertake contract management of all our projects, ensuring that our upstream (Client) contract obligations are delivered and ensure down stream (supplier) contracts are managed.
Responsibilities will include:
Provide expert advise on commercial and contract risk, advising on contract terms to manage, mitigate and reduce risks in the delivery of solutions.
Contract Administration & Co-ordination
Dispute Resolution and Claims Management
Assist the Procurement function,
We are looking for an engaging, communicative, driven and diligent Contract Manager who is able to translate “the legal” to “the reality”, whilst keeping on top of a multitude of contracts and the obligations contained within them.
You will have a background in contract review, administration and/or commercial management of projects. You will have an experience on leading the commercial delivery of projects. A legal understanding of contractual mechanisms would be beneficial.
As a commercially minded professional, you will have the ability to translate technical inputs and contractual inputs into commercial impact. You will be able to identify and manage risks in changing and challenging environments.
You will have a sound understanding of standard forms of contract and contract management fundamentals, from risk reviewing client and sub-contracts terms & conditions to contract administration and reporting. Your ability to understand the details and keep the big picture in mind will help you to drive projects and strike the right balance between “doing” and “steering”.
Naturally collaborative and a strong team player you will be able to build strong relationships with peers, project teams, and work with Clients, advisors and other key stakeholders to ensure we deliver a sustainable and profitable portfolio of heat and decentral energy projects. This work will be fundamental to our ability to develop and grow the Vattenfall Heat UK footprint in the UK.
