Paul Searle

Paul is Interim Director of Major Projects, responsible for shaping and delivering our largest and most complex energy infrastructure projects. He leads the Major Projects Team, sets the governance and engineering frameworks for successful delivery, and ensures that our investments are robust, technically assured and build long-term value.

Paul’s background is in engineering – he began his career in the Royal Navy as a Marine Engineering Artificer, achieving Chief Petty Office (P) in 2003. His engineering and leadership experience spans oil and gas, offshore wind, solar and major UK Government programmes delivered in Whitehall, Parliament Estates and across regions such as Shetland, Hull and Plymouth.

After joining Vattenfall in 2024 as Head of Delivery and Operations in Bristol, Paul led the delivery of the city’s expanding heat network and the operation of energy centres, substations and buried transmission systems.

Paul is driven by a commitment to operational excellence, strong engineering principles and the belief that well-designed infrastructure can accelerate the UK’s transition to low carbon heat.
