Exploring the fun of heat networks at Family Day

Earlier this month, during the Easter Break, colleagues across Vattenfall welcomed their family members and friends into our offices for our annual Family Day.

Family Day is an opportunity for our employees to bring their loved ones to work, from partners and children to siblings and friends (and even a pet), and share insight into their roles delivering heat networks across the UK.

Educating and inspiring the next generation:

Family Day began with presentations from our team. From why we need heat, to how a heat network works and the importance of decarbonisation, even the youngest of attendees were engaged in our presentations. We even caught a video from our Managing Director, Jenny, and her daughters on the importance of moving away from gas boilers.

A wide range of activities were on offer throughout the day. Biscuit decorating brought out creative skills and a few iterations of the Vattenfall logo in icing, VR headsets were popular to try out, and the Lego Heat Network task challenged even the youngest of builders to consider how best to connect buildings with pipes.

Heat networks are important infrastructure to decarbonise the UK, both now and into the future. We enjoyed bringing together friends and family of all ages to build awareness of the heat networks sector – which, according to a BEIS survey, only 28% of UK adults have heard of.

Reinforcing our values:

Family Day is open to all and reflects our commitment to building a work environment which welcomes employees from a range of backgrounds, perspectives and experiences.

We continually seek to show gratitude to our colleagues for their hard work; events such as Family Day highlight the important work our colleagues deliver, and crucially extends our gratitude to the families and friends who help make this possible.
