Vattenfall Group: 100 years of energy innovation

We’re one of Europe’s largest producers and retailers of electricity and heat.

A key player in the European energy market

We operate in Sweden, Germany, the Netherlands, Denmark, Finland, and the UK.

Our parent company, Vattenfall AB, is 100% owned by the Swedish state and headquartered in Solna, Sweden.

Our purpose

At Vattenfall, we believe that fossil freedom is essential for society to thrive. Our mission is clear: to enable a future where everyone can choose fossil-free ways to move, make, and live.

The Vattenfall story

For over a century, we’ve powered industries, energised homes, and driven innovation to modernise how we live.

Today, we’re at the forefront of the transition to a sustainable energy system with growth in renewable energy and climate-smart solutions.

By 2040, we’re committed to eliminating fossil fuels from our primary electricity and heat production.

Vattenfall in the UK

We have been in the UK for over 15 years, making a key contribution towards enabling the UK to reach net zero.

We have around 500 employees working for fossil freedom in the UK through our four businesses: onshore wind, offshore wind, electricity networks and heat networks.

What we do

We are helping the UK achieve its net zero ambitions. We design, build and operate large, city-scale low carbon heat networks. We are proud to partner with like-minded local authorities and developers and support them on their decarbonisation journey.
