An expert on all things Bristol, Paul Barker is a seasoned professional with extensive experience in the energy industry. He is currently leading the delivery and operational teams responsible for heat networks in Bristol – a crucial role that involves managing contractors, constructing energy centres and ensuring seamless connections from the network to buildings. 
 
As an expert in operational excellence, Paul will oversee the team that operates the city’s heat networks so that they meet the highest standards of performance, safety and reliability. He is committed to ensuring projects are delivered on time and all expectations are met. 
 
Paul brings a wealth of experience to his role, having spent nearly 20 years at Bristol City Council helping to deliver district heating and renewable projects. In his most recent position as Energy Infrastructure Manager, Paul oversaw installation of the city’s first biomass boilers, its first solar PV schemes for schools and a 3 MW water-sourced heat pump in Castle Park energy centre – the largest in England at the time. 
 
As a key interface between stakeholders in Bristol – including building developers and owners, utility companies, highways teams, contractors and the community – Paul plays a pivotal role in ensuring that the networks operate seamlessly and benefit everyone involved.
