Social value in Scotland
In Scotland, our goal is to develop a clear and accessible career pathway into the heat networks sector for individuals in the communities we are working in.
Lifelong opportunities in heat networks
We’re working to deliver low carbon energy projects in Midlothian, and developing additional projects in Granton and West Edinburgh. Our projects can offer careers that span decades.
For our MEL heat network in Midlothian alone, 130+ jobs are forecast to be created until 2040 across both the construction and operation phase.
As we look to expand our projects further in Scotland, it means more local jobs, apprenticeships, and reskilling programmes for Scotland’s workforce.
We’re developing a career pathway into the heat network sector by:
Partnering with local organisations to inspire future energy professionals.
Engaging in community and supply chain initiatives to build a skilled workforce.
Supporting Scotland’s journey to its 2045 net zero target.
Inspiring the next generation
We need a skilled workforce to design, build and operate heat networks, helping Scotland achieve its 2045 target.
To build a resilient workforce, we need to consider the entire journey, starting from school age. We work in partnership with local organisations Edinburgh Science and Powering Futures, who provide an avenue to empowering young people with engaging, proven programmes.
Empowering Scotland with low carbon heat networks
Our ambition for Scotland is to establish low carbon heat networks that bring reliable heating and hot water to communities, use local resources and recirculate value in the Scottish economy.
